Job Description JOB SUMMARY Provides advanced practice health
care services as well as documentation of services, collaborates
with colleagues and clinical director, supervises assigned support
staff, participates in quality assurance activities, and
demonstrates a commitment to quality health care. EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE Minimum Qualifications: - Completion of a graduate level
(or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the
Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) - No experience
required LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS Required: -
Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) - Licensed
Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) -
Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse
practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of
Nursing (TBON) Current RN’s who have not yet completed their nurse
practitioner program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained
their ANCC/AANP certification or APRN nurse practitioner license
are eligible to apply for this position. However, official
employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an
accredited nurse practitioner program, ANCC/AANP certification and
APRN nurse practitioner licensure. Job Summary: The Department of
Pediatrics is seeking an acute care pediatric Nurse Practitioner to
provide advanced practice health care services in the hospital
setting as well as documentation of services, collaborates with
colleagues and clinical director, supervises assigned support
staff, participates in quality assurance activities, and
demonstrates a commitment to quality health care. The duties
associated with this role will include but are not limited to the
following: - Management of complex and acute medical conditions, as
well as behavioral, nutritional, equipment, and education. -
Performing detailed examinations of the patient. Creating and
implementing treatment plans. - Coordinating with other medical
professionals and specialists as necessary, as well as equipment
needs, under the supervision of clinic faculty. - Ordering, and
interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays,
performing procedures such as lumbar puncture , and providing
parent, and family education. - Updating medical records and
completing progress notes on time. - Supports and assists with
hospital and unit specific quality improvement projects. - Direct
contact with DMEs, pharmacies, and insurance companies (peer-peer)
required to expedite patient’s medications, supplies and equipment.
- Regular attendance at division, unit provider, and quality
improvement meetings. - Excellent communication skills with
patients and interprofessional members of the team. Preferred
Qualifications: - Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
certification. - PALS certification. - At least one year of work
experience in a hospital setting as a pediatric nurse practitioner.
