Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program - 0 years of
experience - Preferred Qualifications: - Associates of Applied
Science LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS - American Heart
Association (BLS) - Any one of the following credentials: -
American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS) - American
Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- OB/GYN) - American
Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- AB) - American Registry
for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT) - American Registry for
Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS) - American Registry for Diagnostic
Sonography (RDMS-MSKS) - American Registry for Diagnostic
Sonography (RDMS- BR) JOB DESCRIPTION The Diagnostic Ultrasound
Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety
of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and
special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity. This position
provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and
special ultrasound procedures. The Diagnostic Ultrasound
Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and
adheres to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by
governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer
service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Promotes a positive work environment. -
Collaborates with all members of the patient care team. - Guides
and mentors Ultrasound Technologist I and students to help build
confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities. - Uses peer-to-peer
accountability towards department goals for retention and employee
engagement. - Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to
achieve mutual understanding. - Utilizes active communication and
reports pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive
manner. - Proactive in responding to patient needs. - Performs
diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special
ultrasound exams of moderate complexity. - Optimizes protocols to
provide better patient care, image quality and patient experience.
This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation and
technical factors. - Assists physicians during diagnostic
procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting
with sterile technique. - Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words
and MANGAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family
members at an age-appropriate level. - Follows MRI safety policy
and procedures and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. -
Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures. - Complies with
job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and
policies. - Participates in LEAN projects and WASTE walks, and
contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality
and safety. - Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into
appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve
processes and identify trends. - Utilizes critical thinking skills
to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast
media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate. -
Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC)
performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. -
Assists with implementation and education of department-based
safety initiatives and standards of practice. - Provides accurate
and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at
the time service is delivered. - Uses resources efficiently; does
not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time
effectively and prioritize daily tasks. - Ensure their personal
timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent
retro amendments. - Participates in departmental special projects,
initiatives or shared governance activities. - Seeks opportunities
to expand learning with a focus on continual development. - Fosters
a positive and constructive teaching environment. WORK SCHEDULE: Up
