X NON-EXEMPT EFFECTIVE DATE: 1/21/2022SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Medical Assistant will provide routine technical duties and
assist with other related tasks involved in providing quality
patient care and services directed toward restoration of health and
wellness, and health promotion. This individual is responsible for
aiding the on-site Provider with normal routine of the clinic
activities. The Medical Assistant will obtain patient intake
information and histories, ensure that consents have been signed,
and respond to all patient request (i.e., prescription refills,
etc.). All duties are structured in accordance with the Patent
Centered Medical Home (PCMH). If bilingual must be privileged to
translate. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Direct patients to available exam room.
- Record patients' chief complaints regarding the reason for the
clinic visit.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Instructs patients on the collection of lab specimens and
completes lab information.
- Assist providers with examination and treatments as directed.
Perform waived lab test and/or assist with procedures as directed
by provider.
- May assist with translation as needed. This includes verbal and
written.
- Obtain needed supplies and 'shared' equipment as requested by
provider.
- Ensure rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visit. Assist
with maintaining and ordering medical supplies as assigned.
- Discharge patients and provide patients with information as
defined by provider. Schedule specialty appointments as
directed.
- Performs EKGs as ordered by provider.
- Takes patient intakes and health histories.
- Ensure all areas of the clinic are clean and orderly.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement
activities as assigned.
- Participate in the cleaning, packaging, and autoclaving of
instruments as assigned. Completes required documentation.
- Assist in maintaining all logs pertaining to medical care
(i.e., pap smears, abnormal tests, lab, and x ray).
- Ensures that patient consents are signed.
- Assesses immunization records and refer for immunization as
needed to meet DSHS guidelines.
- Accept other duties as assigned including Student MA
supervision. QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of work experience, preferably in the health
field.
- Medical Assistant (MA) from a State approved school and
certificate to practice MA (recommended)
- Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements regarding
patients and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all
such information.
- Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently
with the public and all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Familiarity with office equipment, calculators, photocopiers,
faxes, and practice management software. Additional Requirements:
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bilingual ability in Spanish preferred.

- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries
or complaints.

- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate.Hours:Work hours are generally
a regular workday of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. five days per week,
Monday through Friday. However, the position may require work in
addition to regular hours, before 8:00 a.m., after 5:00 p.m., and
occasional weekends.Benefits:Health insurance and worker's
