Program Director, Nursing (VN) - South CampusResponsibilities:Teaching:Maintain a teaching load per institutional requirements, which may include didactic and clinical courses.Develop and maintain an environment conducive to the teaching/learning process.Work with the Simulation Coordinator to maintain accurate records of the activities of the Simulation Center and Skills Lab. This includes, but is not limited to, number of students, hours of practice, usage per human patient simulator, skills lab hours' usage, and provides updates to the Department Chair monthly.Program Leadership:Provide overall Leadership for the program and its faculties, which may include:Conduct meetings with faculty to resolve program and departmental issues.Facilitate the flow of information between the department, division, and/or College and program faculties.Serve as liaison with and maintain relationship with the Division and College Administration in the absence of the Department Chair.Develop and submit program budget requests.Participation in the budget process that includes full preparation, presentation, administration and decision-making of the program budget equal to other academic units.Participate in grant opportunities within the organization; Managing and supporting the grants requirement and implementation for the organization; Directly involve in grant writing by coordinating with the Grants Office Management; Keep the Department Chair informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables.Curriculum Oversight:Responsible for the curriculum, which may include:Leadership within the faculty for the development and implementation of curriculum.Prepare and submit course/program modification forms.Coordinate course sequencing and scheduling.Develop and maintain the program's portion of the College catalog.Program Planning & Evaluation:Responsible for all program planning and evaluation, which may include:Coordinate program goals/strategies with the departmental strategic plan.Assess student learning outcomes.Develop and submit a Program Assessment Plan.Generate and submit an annual Assessment Report.Manage the general oversight of a periodic Program Review.Develop and submit a Program Competency Profile.Develop a Program Review Document.Present the Program Review to the District.Faculty Recruiting, Loads, and Evaluation:Manage the program faculty, which may include:Maintain files of all faculty credential documents.Provide feedback for performance review upon request.Facilitation of faculty development, recruitment, performance review, promotion, and retention.Make timely decisions on providing an adequate number of qualified faculty to teach in the nursing program.Assign courses, in concert with the Department Chair: To achieve workload balance; To ensure adequate coverage for course offerings.Student Recruitment and Retention:Make timely decisions on admissions.Work together with the Retention Specialist to analyze and interpret information within our course learning management system and our program's NCLEX Program Report.Develop and maintain materials and processes that promote student recruitment, retention, and success, such as: Promotional brochures and literature, program website, catalog copy, degree checklist, and text for letters to prospective students; Oversight of all program - related extracurricular activities, such as: Majors' clubs, Honor Societies, recognition events, etc.Outreach:Represent the program's interests by actions such as:Coordinate the program Advisory Committee meeting.Serve as liaison between the program and other campus constituencies.Participate in community events in which the program is represented.Support for an ongoing relationship with the community to establish affiliate agencies and to ensure responsiveness to community needs.Program Compliance:The Program Director shall ensure compliance with applicable accreditation, certification, licensing, health, and safety requirements such as:Serving in the absence of the Department Chair as liaison with and maintenance of the relationship with the regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies.Completing Texas Board of Nursing Reports.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program.Excellent communication skills.Interacts effectively with students, staff, faculty, and external clients.Must have ability to interact effectively and courteously with culturally diverse groups.Ability to project a professional, friendly, and helpful demeanor.Required Education:MSN requiredRequired Experience:Have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a prelicensure nursing education program.Have a minimum of five (5) years of varied nursing experience since graduation from a professional nursing education program.Licenses/Certifications:Must have active unencumbered R.N. license in the state of Texas.Out of state applicants to be eligible for a Texas Compact License, a nurse must: 1. Reside in Texas as his/her legal residence. 2. Hold an active RN license without current disciplinary action. 3. Declare Texas as his/her primary state of residence. 4. Meet Texas licensure requirements.Working Conditions and Physical Effort:Work is normally performed in a typical interior-office work environment.No or very limited exposure to physical risk.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Note: Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.Salary Grade: MASTSalary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year.
